Christmas Carols around the Tree

On Friday December 19th we are having a pre-Christmas get together at 6.30pm at the Village Hall to switch on the lights on our Christmas tree, sing some carols and make merry with mince pies and festive cheer.

This is a FREE event. Everyone is welcome!


Whist Drive
19:00 Friday 5 December 2008
Everyone is welcome and we hope to have some old hands around to help newcomers. Refreshments will be served at half time and there will be top score prizes. This is a new venture for the Village Hall to revive what was a very popular regular event, so please come along. There will be a nominal charge.


Quiz Night

Harvest Lunch

Harvest Lunch at the Village Hall. 12:30 for 13:00 start. Once again we are inviting you to join us in a delicious 3 course lunch. All our food is fresh and home cooked. Nearer the time a menu will be delivered to your door so that you can pre order. You should have received a menu by now, which needs to be returned with selections and appropriate payment to Mary Beynon, Jessamine Farm, by 1 October.

BUBBLES and BERRIES

Please join us for what we hope will be very enjoyable few hours of eating delicious local strawberries, as well as a light buffet, and partaking of a few glasses of bubbly. We hope for a warm summer afternoon with pleasant company. Other attractions are music and poetry from some famous local residents.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer Crocus Walk with Tea

On Sunday 11 May there will be the Crocus Walk in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. This 8 kilometre walk will start at Pilton Green at 1 p.m. and walkers will leave from here to join the coastal path, via the Coastwatch lookout and then finish at Rhossili Village Hall for tea, provided by the ladies of Rhossili Village Hall. If you would like to do this walk and find sponsors, then sponsor forms are available from Vicki James ( Tel 01792 390480). Otherwise please come and join in and maybe give a small donation to this most worthwhile charity. The tea time treats will be worth it!

The start of British Summertime on Sunday 30 March is the date for our Rhossili Village Hall lunch. We will be serving a delicious 3 course lunch to include Welsh lamb, and a vegetarian option will be available. These are always hugely enjoyable affairs and well attended. The cost of the lunch will be £10.

Pauline Bevan has been again sponsored by Barclays Bank under their Pensioner £4£ Scheme up to a maximum of £750 for this day.

Come and celebrate at 3:00pm the launch of a new book called ‘Reminiscences of Pre-War Gower’ by Jack Bevan (1900-1982), compiled by his daughter Pauline Bevan.

Jack Bevan was born, bred and lived his life in Rhossili. Here are his memories of life on Gower in the early years of the last century told in his own words and published by his daughter, Pauline, who, like her late father, has served on Rhossili Village Hall Committee for many years.

The book will be on sale at the special price of £5, and should make very interesting reading.
All proceeds from the book will go towards the Village Hall Development Fund.
The publication and printing of the book has been enabled by the Lottery Fund via Awards for All Wales.

On Friday February 29th we are having a Leap Year Quiz. There will be a variety of questions and puzzles for all the family for this extra day of the year. So get a team together or just come along and join in. The Quiz nights are always a lot of fun with a light supper thrown in. Refreshments will be available. Entrance £5.

Rhossili Pantomime will be staged on Friday 11 January 2008 (evening performance) and Saturday 12 January 2008 (matinee and evening performances). A great entertaining performance is promised.
