Llanddewi with Knelston Women’s Institute

Women's Institute The Llanddewi with Knelston Women’s Institute has moved to Rhossili Village Hall in order to facilitate disabled access. The move however has also resulted in an increase in membership, which is great!

We meet on the third Wednesday of every month at 7.30pm, with the exception of August.

Our WI is an informal gathering open to any women who would like to join. Our President, Chris Williams of Port Eynon does an excellent job and is well supported by the committee members who together arrange the programme for the year. This is varied and includes speakers, outings, meals and various social occasions.

One of our members, Mary Attwell of Port Eynon is to take part in a bike ride in November 2008 around part of Cuba. For this she must raise £3000 which is to support the work of the charity ‘Women for Women’. Professor Lord Robert Winston is chairman of this organisation and writes: ‘the money raised will help train women scientists and clinicians of the future, pushing the boundaries of medical knowledge to improve women’s health and the incidence of healthy pregnancy’.

We are full of admiration for Mary and our WI is supporting her. On her return an interview and report will be available here on the website.
