Activities

Rhossili residents organise a number of groups that meet regularly at the hall: Drama Group, Film Club, Keep Fit, Wednesday Club, Women's Institute and Youth Club.

There is also a Social Committee that organises events for the whole community, on behalf of the Hall Trustees. We're always looking for enthusiastic volunteers. If you are interested in planning or helping with events, please Contact Us.

Any group of residents can start a local group, club or society, and book the facilities at discounted rates. More information about all of these activities, including who to contact, is included below.

The facilities are also used for formal meetings of the Rhossili Village Hall Trustees and Rhossili Community Council. Members of the public are welcome to attend the Community Council meetings.

Our Assembly Member: Edwina Hart, Assembly Minister for Health & Social Services, and our Member of Parliament:  Martin Caton (more about Martin Caton MP), both hold scheduled surgeries in the hall. The hall is also used as a Polling Station for all elections.

The facilities are also available throughout the year for events and meetings.

Community Council

The Rhossili Community Councillors are elected by the community to work on its behalf. The Council usually meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:15pm in Rhossili Village Hall. Extra meetings may occur from time to time and these are publicised on the Gower Community Council site and on the village notice boards.

All residents are welcome to attend our meetings. Any matters that residents may wish the Council to discuss should be raised with a Councillor in advance of the meeting.

Further information about Rhossili Community Council, including a list of planning applications, is available on the Gower Community Council site.

Drama at Rhossili

Do we want to form a Drama Club?

At any rate I have just finished writing a Pantomime for our community.  I say 'finished' but I regard it as the skeleton and I hope and expect the people who join in to improve and extend it.

The pantomime has 2 Acts with about 10 scenes in each. The cast is 10, but extras can be absorbed. As well as actors we need a treasurer, people to help with costumes and scenery, help with music, publicity, lighting stagehands, it goes on.

It is enormous fun and I welcome anyone who is interested!

Film Club

It is the intention of the Hall Trustees to resurrect the Film Club, to show recent and classic films on a regular basis. The licensing issues and costs are currently being considered, and we hope to restart soon.

Further information and contact details to follow. Watch this space!

Keep Fit

Rhossili Keep Fit is an informal group who meet on each Monday at 7.30pm in Rhossili Village Hall.

The group is for those who have an interest in maintaining personal fitness and keeping active.  Activities range from stretching and aerobic exercise in winter to short walks around the beautiful surrounding area in the summer.

We also arrange short courses of instructor-led classes exploring different fitness techniques and regimes (such as Belly Dancing, Salsa Fit, Line Dancing, Modern Dance etc).

All our sessions are open to anybody, they are not formally structured and the emphasis is on individuals developing their own fitness programme within a friendly and enjoyable environment.
